Count on Me as a Friend of the Mansion!

For 35 years, the restoration of the Governor’s Mansion has been a partnership between the State of Missouri and Missouri Mansion Preservation, Inc.—known to many of us as MMPI.  We all recognize that the Mansion is the home of the Governor of Missouri and his family.  However, this architectural gem truly belongs to all Missourians and should be preserved with that in mind.

Thanks to the leadership of Governor Matt Blunt and First Lady Melanie Blunt, the Governor recommended a $3 million appropriation to support long-overdue structural repairs and restoration of the Mansion. The funds being used by the state are available in a constitutionally-established Facilities Maintenance and Reserve Fund dedicated to repairing and preserving state buildings in Missouri.  The Mansion work includes replacing the aged slate mansard roof, restoring and repainting the windows, trim, cornices, and columns, tuck pointing the brick, HVAC upgrades on the second and third floors, and renovation of the first-floor kitchen.

The goal for MMPI's Capital Campaign for the interior restoration is $3 million.  In many rooms, the carpet, window treatments, and upholstery that are more than 20 years old are fraying and literally falling apart.   At A Luncheon for the First Ladies on June 25, MMPI launched a Capital Campaign to restore and preserve this Missouri landmark for the people of our state and for future generations.  Your donation to MMPI as a Friend of the Mansion will support the important restoration and educational programs at the Missouri Governor’s Mansion.
